I enjoy teaching writing as much as I enjoy writing. Below are some favourites of the workshops I've taught. For more information please use the contact form below. Write On!
Writing Sexual Tension, Heightening Your Readers' Satisfaction
A question I often get is how to write believable romantic components, often for non-romance genres, that will add to the story, not just add gratuitous scenes or read as awkward. I developed this workshop to help share the tools I use to create the most charged, believable, but still real couples for my stories. I include "the meet", pace, weaving existing story lines with the romance, the difference between sexual and sensual, and also choosing story-appropriate heat levels that you are comfortable writing.
Write a Tapestry, Weaving Your Stories With Texture and Depth.
I really, really love a well-woven story. This is am important component in my style of writing and when I was asked to teach it, I jumped at the chance! In this workshop I explore the approaches I use for creating that depth, of adding those layers and texture to create a richer, deeper storytelling that will pull your readers into the fabric of your book and keep them wrapped in your writing.
I've had the beautiful roller-coaster, yet epic learning experience of being asked to expand my novel to a substantially higher word count. This workshop shares my adventure of finding those story threads to weave additional scenes and subplots to help you rock a longer, better story, not simply up your word count.
The Power of Laughter, Utilizing Humour in Fiction
From snappy dialogues to hilarious escapades, humour is a powerful tool in your writing tool kit. In this workshop I share how I use humour to support, amplify and create those balanced contrasts to the more serious themes and scenes of your story, while adding the happy punch of a smile or a laugh-out-loud.
